Hyderabad: Leading Vedic scholar Malladi Chandrasekhara Sastry, who carved a niche for himself with his in-depth knowledge of scriptures, passed away at his house in the city on Friday. He was 96.
An authority in Vedas and the Ashtadasa Puranas texts, he commanded wide respect for his authoritative discourses and commentaries on All India Radio during Bhadrachalam’s Sitarama Kalyanam and Brahmotsavam festivals. His shows such as “Dharma Sandehalu” on television answering questions regarding the Purana and various aspects of Hinduism, were also widely popular. Apart from Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel, his talks and shows were telecast on many channels including Doordarshan.
Malladi Chandrasekhara Sastry was also well known for his almanac reading ”Panchanga Sravanam” on Ugadi day.
