Yadadri-Bhongir: Following heavy rains in upper catchment areas, Musi river is in spate and was flowing over the bridge at Rudravelli in Bibinagar mandal, disrupting road connectivity between Bhoodan Pochampally and Bibinagar as also several villages in the two mandals on Tuesday.

Since Chinneti vagu was also flowing onto the road between Anajipuram and Raipadu, police advised people to take alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. They also closed the service road on National Highway 163 as it was submerged in flood water causing inconvenience to people travelling to Yadagirigutta and Mothkur from Bhongir.

A driver and cleaner had a narrow escape when a lorry turned turtle while crossing Buggavagu at Bugga Madhavaram village of Chinthalapalem mandal in Suryapet district.

Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy held a teleconference with District Collectors of Nalgonda, Yadadri-Bhongir and Suryapet district and reviewed the preparedness of the officials to tackle any emergency. He instructed the officials to post rescue teams in select spots in view of the rains in the aftermath of cyclone Gulab. People living in low lying areas should be kept on alert and electricity department should take up special measures to alert people not to touch electricity pole during the rains, he said, adding that medical teams should also be ready to rush to places in case of emergency requirement.
